Galia
When she was one year old Galia weighed just 5.1 kilos and her height was only 27 inches. The doctors contacted us because they were very concerned for her and felt that she might actually die if she didn’t receive some motherly love urgently. This is when she became part of our family. Today Galia is five but she is still very small and weighs just 14.5 kilos. She can only eat very small amounts of food, so we have to feed her six times a day. She is a very frail child and so we have to massage her muscles each day, to improve her strength. She also needs specialist help with her speech. However, she is a very intelligent little girl and quite mischievous in a nice way. She likes dancing and her dream is to play the violin.
Viktor
It’s hard to believe that when Viktor first came into our family, at four years of age, his front teeth had been broken by his parents! He didn’t know how to talk and he was learning with a two year old. As a result of the traumas he has faced, his memory is very poor, he doesn’t have abstract thinking or spatial imagination and it is very difficult for him to study. However, he is very good at drawing and painting. He also likes to mould characters in Plasticine. Viktor is a very kind young man and he likes sports, especially, football and running. He is growing very quickly at the moment, so the financial support is a big help to us when we need to be buying new clothes and shoes. Thank you so much to everyone.
Sonia
This sweet little girl lived in the shelter for about six months with her younger sister. She was classified as having a learning disability. With no special help available, her childhood would have been spent in an institutionalized orphanage where she would have no opportunity to achieve anything in life. Sonia now lives in a loving family home, with lots of encouragement and within just one month, her new school teacher was so impressed with her work that she used her exercise book as an example for the rest of the class. As you can imagine, Sonia feels very special now and she knows that she is loved.

'When it happened, the significance of the scene was not obvious, but later I realized why the tour of her little bedroom meant so much to Sonia. She had proudly shown us the space that is now her room. No longer a dormitory with lots of other children but a place for Sonia and her sister. I particularly noticed that the wardrobe was so neat with clothes folded in little piles, like they might have been on display in a high street shop and now I realize that this is probably the first time that Sonia has had any clothes she could really call her own.'
Every little girl likes to dream but when there is no hope, dreams are quickly forgotten. It’s nice to know that Sonia is dreaming again and now she wants to become the director of our charity one day! Go for it Sonia!
